Lars Corneliussen is a contemporary Danish figurative painter based in Herning, Denmark.

His paintings examine people under the pressures of contemporary life: digitally visible, emotionally overstimulated, socially connected but often isolated. Working through portraiture and ordinary situations, he paints moments where the self begins to fracture under expectation, performance, work, attention and the demand to appear intact.

The work is rooted in specific scenes: a ruined brunch, a phone-lit reaction, a crowded street, a body unable to leave work behind. These situations become psychological events. Rather than illustrating technology or social critique, the paintings look at what happens when contemporary systems enter the body, the home, the relationship and the image of the self.

Before focusing on painting, Corneliussen spent a decade working as a concept artist and illustrator in film and games. That experience remains visible in his use of composition, colour and narrative construction, but painting has become a more direct and physical way of looking at people.
